As parents to two small children, Georgina and Amelia love spending their free time foraging for seasonal goodies, growing their own fruit and veggies in their farmhouse garden, and creating family-friendly dishes that not only encourage the children to eat healthily, but to explore different and new foods.
As a result, this got them to thinking – where can you order a bowl of sweet, tender peas when they’re at their best in early spring, or try new artisanal products without paying through the nose? The idea of Hideaway Kitchen started here. Hideaway Kitchen is a professionally run cafe where we strive to make you feel truly at home, so you can genuinely relax and unwind (even with the children in tow!) and leave the finer details to us.
Georgina brings a wealth of experience from working in the food industry, heading up some of the best fine dining restaurants in North Yorkshire, gaining 2 rosettes along the way. Georgina’s passion lies in sourcing top quality ingredients from local artisan food and drinks producers, which she then treats with the utmost respect in her technical cooking.
Amelia, serial foodie entrepreneur, founder and owner of a highly prestigious boutique hotel in Spain, and co-founder of the now-famous Bert & May Group, brings to the kitchen her love for Spanish cooking, and lesser-known produce from around the world. As a result, this avid traveller uses these ingredients to create a unique and memorable experience for guests to the Hideaway Kitchen.
